INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19
nirvanaHealth is committed to your health and safety. Below are answers to commonly asked questions about COVID-19. Regular updates will be made as needed.
How Does COVID-19 Spread?
COVID-19 spreads like other viruses through person-to-person contact. The CDC states that COVID-19 is spread in three main ways:
- Breathing in air when close to an infected person.
- Having small droplets and particles containing the virus land on the eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Touching the eyes, nose, or mouth with hands that have the virus on them.
Please be mindful that the spread of COVID-19 is possible even if people do not show symptoms.
What are the Symptoms of COVID-19?
Symptoms can be mild to severe and appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
What Should I Do if I am Sick?
If you think you may have COVID-19, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible and plan to get tested. There is no specific cure available. Current treatments are to help relieve your symptoms or reduce the amount of time that symptoms are experienced. If you have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or you have recently traveled, please contact your healthcare provider.
If you test positive for COVID-19 and have mild symptoms, stay at home except to get medical care (if needed). Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken to help with fever and/or pain. For more severe symptoms, treatment will be determined by your healthcare provider.
Be sure to tell your close contacts that they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Stay in a room away from other people in your home (i.e., quarantine). Avoid sharing personal items with other people. Restrict activities outside your home except to receive medical care. Do not go to work, school, or public areas. Avoid public transportation, ridesharing, and taxis.
How can I Protect Myself from COVID-19?
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Simple measures can assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19:
- Washing your hands often;
- Avoiding close contact;
- Covering your mouth and nose with a mask when around others;
- Covering coughs and sneezes;
- Cleaning and disinfecting; and
- Monitoring your health daily.
Masks are an important tool in slowing the spread of COVID-19.They provide a simple barrier to prevent respiratory droplets from reaching others.
Getting vaccinated for COVID-19 is a safe way to build protection. These vaccines work by triggering protective immune responses in your body to fight against the virus. Talk to your healthcare provider to see if a COVID-19 vaccine is right for you. For more information on available COVID-19 vaccines, please refer to our COVID-19 Vaccines FAQs.
What if I am Pregnant?
According to the CDC, those who are pregnant are at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19. If you are pregnant, follow the CDC’s recommended guidelines to avoid becoming sick with COVID-19. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider.
What if I am Traveling?
If you are traveling, we encourage you to visit the CDC’s Travelers’ Health website for current travel alerts. If you develop symptoms and you have recently traveled, please contact your healthcare provider.
